Etiquette and rules of the Mosque

Etiquette and rules of the Mosque

There are etiquette and rules that should be learned and upheld by every Muslim. We should teach our families and children these rules and remind other Muslims to uphold these rules.

Whenever anyone enters into a Mosque, one must remain conscious of these etiquette –

[Bismillaahi, wassalaatu.]
[Wassalaamu 'alaaRasoolillaahi.]  Allaahum-maftah lee 'abwaaba rahmatika.

I seek refuge in Almighty Allah, by His Noble Face, by His primordial power, from Satan the outcast.
[In the Name of Allah, and blessings.] [And peace be upon the Messenger of Allah.]
O Allah, open before me the doors of your mercy.

2. Greet Salam to the People in the mosque.

3. Pray two rak'at tahiyyatul Masjid upon entry into the Masjid-
The prophet (Peace be upon Him) said: "If any one of you enters the mosque then he should not sit until he prays two rak’ats" [AL-Bukhari and Muslim] if after having offered his Asr Salah a person enters a mosque before sunset, he can offer two raka’ahs Tahiyyatul Masjid (prayer after entering mosque) before sitting which is a recommended Sunnah.

4. Do not skip rows or skip people.

5. When Jama’at begins, the first rows should be completed first, with both the right and left hand sides balanced equally.

6. Do not pass in front of someone who is still praying-
The Prophet (S.A.W.) said, "If the passer in front of the praying person knew how much sin he committed, it would have been better for him to wait for forty (days, months, years) than to pass in front of him." [Bukhari & Muslim]
